Okay- what's been going on....

Well, first of all I am diabetic. For me it just means to check my sugar levels and take medicine plus watch what I eat.  None of which I do. Why? I really don't know, but when I feel bad, I swear i am going to start taking better care of myself (usually, a short lived promise).

But-I'm am back to really trying to get it together.  I take insulin- Toujeo plus pills Metformin and Januvia. It's not that I eat all the Bad things, its that sometime (okay a lot of time) I don't want to eat at all .

Crocheting, keeps my hands too busy to grab chips. Playing video games keeps my mind off of eating!
I desperately want a Nintendo Mini, Wii U or PS 4.  the mini so, my granddaughters can play. I think they would enjoy have a blast playing those pre-installed games, but not for $140 or whatever ridiculous prices they have been selling for. I may still get one if I can find it!
The Wii U or PS 4, I want so I can buy the game Earthbound and download it to play again. If you like RPG's this game was great(my opinion).  There is also the game Citizens of Earth, that is supposed to be in the same style that I would like to play also.

Well, my head hurts. Yes, I'm pretty sure its because of this chocolate I am eating, okay I did have a bag of Fritos (yes-I said a bag!).   Good news, I am going to take my doctors suggestion and retake a Diabetic Education class. I need it.

Catching up is hard to do.......

So here is the latest.......

I finished the Steelers' Afghan - well, it's still not blocked and washed. My washers' timer broke so, this will have to wait til I get a new washer. Blah...

My daughter wanted a Broncos' afghan. Here it is, waiting for a border. Rather proud of myself. A few mistakes if you look closely- so don't!
I still need to grasp the art of color change and weaving ends. I'll get there.

My current project?  I'm working on two, I think....Nope three. I'll show progress soon.

Much Needed break......

My sister and I took off for the weekend. We went to Franklin, North Carolina.   It was beautiful!

The views were spectacular no matter where you were in the house.  These are pictures of one of the lower decks and the main deck.

Look at those mountains!  Living in Cincinnati, we don't get to see nature quite as much as this.

My favorite room - the bathroom. This picture only shows the bath. An equally spectacular shower is on the other end of the bathroom.

Oh- excuse the iron and board. My sister insisted on still ironing her jeans.

All that open space.

Wishing I knew how to play.
Back of house.

I wasn't ready to leave.  I'm already planning a trip back (without my sister - don't tell!)

Nothing to do but relax and enjoy!

*House was built by a family friend.  His wife says she doesn't come down off the mountain unless necessary.....it hasn't been necessary!  They made the mistake of saying to come back anytime.....boy are they gonna be surprised!

Just imagine all the crocheting I could do here...

Just a quick check-in.

Where does the time go?  I got so busy trying to keep up with classes I barely have enough time to crochet!

Right no I am working on a Bengals afghan.  It's a pattern I made, so, expect anything.  I hope it turns out.  I will post pictures of my progress thus far ( obviously I watch The Big Bang Theory. I have always wanted to use the word "thus" in a sentence).  I told you "Thusly" ah, Sheldon, got to love him!

Anyhow, beside the Bengals project I am also working on a simple picot afghan in shades of brown. I will also post a picture of it.

Relax and Crochet

For relaxation I crochet, I also do it for fun and to explore my creativity!
My mother taught me to crochet when I was about 7 years old.  Yes, I did a little back then but, I really wasn't into it.  Now, I crochet a lot more and I am enjoying every minute. It has also surprised and pleased my mother that I have taken it back up, since she can't crochet as much as she used to.

I do remember about twenty-seven years ago, I decided to make a little baby jacket for my daughter.  Well, it didn't quite turn out as expected.  Truthfully, it was funny, it ended up being a jacket for one of her dolls.  I decided then and there that making items to wear was not going to work well for me.

Now,  I make afghans. I have been approached to make and sell some items but, I don't think my skills are that good, yet.

This is a ripple afghan I made for one of my granddaughters.  It is actually big enough to cover most of a queen size bed.

Another ripple afghan made for another granddaughter.  I let her pick out the colors, and I was quite pleased with the results (okay, I might have geared her to the colors I wanted to use).

I got adventurous and tried a different design.  It actually turned out the way t was supposed too.

Okay, this project was a bit more advanced but it turned out. Unfortunately, the colors are ugly. It is yellow, sage, brown and apricot. I bet you are wondering why these particular color. First, because I already had them and secondly, I thought they looked good together. It's different, but I did it!
This was by far the most advanced work I completed. The picture is of my sisters poodle that passed away. I finished it just after her birthday.  To say she was surprised was the least of it. She was amazed at the skill of her little sister (aww!), so much so, she decided that she was going to re-learn how to crochet herself.
